Who we are?

we are...

 

The Somali Canadian Diaspora Alliance is an independent group of like minded Somali Canadians comprised of men, women and youth, who are committed to a free and sovereign Somalia. SCDA members work on an altruistic basis and expect no personal gain from the realization of our vision. SCDA is a group that works towards the advancement of the national cause of all Somali citizenry and speaks out against tribal and regional oppression. The SCDA also works to advance individual and collective human rights and works with all other organizations and groups with a similar vision.


What are we going to do?

    - Contribute to the peace building and reconstruction of Somalia


Why are we doing this?

we are doing this because...

    - There is foreign occupation of our country
    - There has been 17 years of war and anarchy
    - To end the human suffering
    - To fight against the balkanization of the Somali state
    - To realize our vision for a peaceful and just Somalia
    - To speak on behalf of all the victims of the Somali conflict
    - To fulfill our patriotic national duty


How are we going to do it?

    - Mobilizing and organizing people
     - Develop leadership/community development
     - Create and promote advocacy
     - Working with progressive social justice movements
     - Be Civically Engaged
     - Mobilization of Resources for humanitarian of resources

 

 Education and Awareness

    -Research and publications/Archiving
     -Conferences/ Workshops
     -Facilitating Dialogue
     -Special Events
     -Engaging government/ main-stream and ethnic media/ the Canadian public

 

Contribute to the peace building and reconstruction of Somalia

    -Encourage open dialogs amongst all Somalis
     -Advocate for the establishment of an independent truth and reconciliation commission (Modeled after the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission)
     -Advocate for the creation of a war crimes tribunal
     -Encourage self-reliance and grassroots economic development
     -Mobilize economic, intellectual and human resources of the Somali Diaspora to the benefit of the Somali people.
